speaking of Bella centric, I personally never understood the justification when defending the writing in BD that the reason the Cullen's seem so chill now with their existence is because Bella being so happy and all "I was born to be a vampire wheee!! :D" is what made them rethink their view on their lives or whatever. ESPECIALLY with Edward and Rosalie. Especially x2 with Rosalie.

It's just doesnt make sense when i look at it outside the Bella bubble. Carlisle kinda made do with himself long time ago, and so did Esme. Emmett is pretty much fine with it. Jasper and Alice are the most "vampire" among them, so they dont really feel bad about missing their humanity and whatnot. To say that it took Bella being high off her overwhelming ecstasy in this new life or whatever she said in one of the chapters (i might be misremembering LOL) to get everyone to be all "see, being a vampire isn't so bad!" screams Main Character Energy.

and it doesn't really resolve Edward's issues with them being soulless? Like if you REALLY want to make a reach and say that he saw that Bella was happy being a vampire to convince him, he has family members who he's known for longer have fun despite their vampirism (see: Emmet). And even on a moral issue, which he's looking at it from, it's as if his concern for Rutabaga and her preference for human blood and having a vampiric diet and lifestyle is now a nonissue SOMEHOW??

As for Rosalie, wasnt one of her main issues not being able to have babies, not being able to see them grow and having grandkids? imo I call bullshit that she's fine with just being aunt to Bella and Edwards kid. it's still not her own kid, said "kid" is growing too fast so she's not able to have a proper mother experience with her anyway. also does smeyer expect me to believe that Rosalie is just happy now settling for crumbs from the brother she butts heads with the most and his girlfriend who was so dismissive of her pain of having no kids? please... 🙄

The idea that people who have lived as vampires for decades and even CENTURIES in some cases, should instantly reevaluate their feelings about it because one (1) girl who has been a vampire for literally 3.5 months is having a Good Time will never make sense to me.

Of course she's happy??? She knew what she was getting into, she wakes up in a mansion with the man she loves and his supportive family, she gets to keep Jacob and Charlie, she has a daughter and cool cars and nice clothes and a fairytale cottage. She also hasn't been a vampire long enough to experience the ennui of watching the world grow and change while you stay stagnant, she hasn't watched everyone form her youth grow old and die yet.

No one else had anything CLOSE to that experience. PLUS they all HAVE lived long enough to experience being "frozen, never moving forward." Carlisle can go visit London if he wants, but it's not the London he knew anymore.

And yeah, the souls thing is totally unresolved. I mean I think the idea is supposed to be that Edward now thinks he has a soul because how could a soulless monster have created anything so wonderful as Renesmee? And like, I guess. But Esme's open, loving heart wasn't enough to convince him vampires might still have souls? Carlisle's centuries of working as a doctor wasn't enough? This blood-drinking baby is? Renesmee herself kills things and drinks blood and prefers human blood and will age only for 7 years until she, too, becomes "frozen, never moving forward" and no one has a problem with that? Edward and Rosalie are cool with that? Carlisle, who still wonders if turning the others--who were all dying--was the right thing to do or was dooming them, isn't bothered that Nessie is basically 'doomed' from birth? It really does feel like that since Bella is like "phew! I'll get to have her forever!" about it, everyone else has to feel that way, too. By all means love the kid and be happy she's not going to age up to an old woman in 15 years and die, but you can still be concerned about her quality of life.

re: Rosalie, I agree, I don't believe she's going to be content being aunt to this kid, who isn't even really a kid. She skips all the baby milestones and basically doesn't even have much of a childhood. She just taught herself to talk and read and walk and dance all within 2 months. And Rosalie's thing wasn't "I like babies" it was "I want to be a MOTHER." Those are two different things. Bella continually asserts her place as the Mother, Renesmee recognizes her as the Mother, wanting her upon their first meeting even though other people (like Rose) had been caring for her for two days. Rosalie gets to brush her hair and feed her human blood from a bottle and I just don't think that's going to lead to lasting happiness.

I mean if Bella's still blissfully happy in 50 years THEN the Cullens can reasonably take a hard look at themselves and their views of vampirism but she's literally in the honeymoon stage now and her experience was basically as ideal as possible. She picked up her life where she left off; everyone else had to start over.

PT 3 of Jason and His Many Parents

Harley is the best aunt that Jason could ask for, she knows how to talk to him without making him feel like a stray dog that’s been cornered. They both get along well, their burning hate for the same man who turned them into the people they are now brings them closer together. Harley understands the need to beat the Joker to a pulp for what he’s done to them both, but not being able to because others don’t want you to stray down that path.

She’d go feral when she finds out her nephew, her baby bird had his throat slit for trying to put that clown in the dirt where he belongs. Jason had his throat cut open with a Batarang by none other than his own father. God Harley try’s her hardest to see where the bat was coming from, he’d helped her when she’d gotten out of her obsession with the joker. He’d helped her get a new apartment for her and Ivy to live in, he’d helped her get back into psychology so she could continue what she loved most.

Then he went and he protected the man who’d hurt her, and his son. How was she supposed to defend him when all he was doing was hurting himself?

It’s just a normal day for Harley, she’s been working on knitting as a new hobby to keep her occupied when Ivys away saving Nature or robbing a bank. She’s about to sit down with some tea when she hears a rather aggressive knock at her door, she’s obviously not going to let whoever’s out there just knock so rudely on her door cause what if they don’t go away?

So Harley picks up her bat and goes to answer the door, and she’s greeted with a sickening sight. Jason is stood at her door covered in blood, and he looks like he’s a second away from collapsing. She brings him inside and starts getting him patched up when Jason just bursts into tears.

His two best friends, the two people who understood more than anything were gone. Bruce’s response was to beat him black and blue then drag him out of Gotham for harming a civilian. Jason can’t stop bawling and doesn’t even register how quick Harley was up and calling every rogue that’s given a damn about Jason. She’s calling Harvey to come support his not-son son, she’s calling Os to get some of his men set up around her home just in case the Bat tries anything funny, and she’s calling Selina to have her chew Bruce out. If Harley went there’d be no more Batman to save anyone.

It’s shocking how quick the rogues rush to be by Jason’s side. Harvey’s there within minutes, it’s a mystery how he didn’t get pulled over for speeding. Dent looks like he’s about to murder the next person who dares step in front of him, until he sees Jason and his beat up face. The Two Faced man’s face just sinks when he sees his boy, and he rushes over to comfort him and talk to him so he knows he’s loved and wanted.

The next person to arrive is Selina, she tells Harley that Bruce will be dealt with when she feels like she can face him without ripping him a new one, literally. She immediately joins Harvey at Jason’s side, rubbing comforting circles on his back and cleaning up any wounds Harley may have missed.

Os takes the longest to arrive, he said he made some calls and fetched some soup made just for Jason from Alfred. He has his men armed to the tooth and instructed to shoot on sight if Batman dares show his face around the building.

They don’t leave Jason alone the next few weeks he’s with them, they don’t want him to feel like he has to go through the loss of his friends alone. Harvey and Os decide it’s not smart to keep him in one place for a long period of time though, Bruce is the greatest detective for a reason. Jason spends a few days at Harley’s before they move him to stay with Harvey for a while, after his stay at Harvey’s they decide he should stay with Os until they talk to Bruce.

And god that talk is not a fun one. Selina tells Bruce how disappointed she is in him, out of everyone he should be the one caring for his son letting him know it’s a sucky situation but he’ll be okay. They don’t tell Jason the details of what Selina said, but Jason is free to return to Crime Alley when he wants to, and Batman won’t interfere with him without a good cause.

Jason is just grateful for the support system he has, and the family that he’s collected over the years of being a child of Gotham.

Sorta related to your last post and it goes without saying, but who you watch on Lifesteal makes so much difference on what you want to happen. I was watching Lifesteal back in s3 but only from Rek’s vids and occasionally a Branzy or Clown vid too (notably funhouse and casino stuff), but since Rek wasn’t huge into lore it was just another thing I watched, kinda comparable to a very competitive hermitcraft. The video that my perspective has changed on the most since then was easily Rek’s cleansing video. Even back then, Rek was very compelling when watching him and even after the bit where he was like “they got everyone back to 10 yipeee” I was dead set that the cleansers were power hungry lunatics, and it was only when I started watching again last year I realized how much more was going on. The same thing happened with his abyss arc video, which I watched before watching all Zams abyss + Joker VODS and I thought Jumper was so justified in the betrayal, then watched the VODs and flipped sides completely ( no way Imissabyssarc likes the abyss??). In s6, I can barely watch videos framing Zam as awful (coughcoughflamefragscoughcough) since I know how much they’re twisting everything thanks to the streams. It makes me wonder if I’d feel more supportive of Jumper if she had VODs conveying everything, since as you said, it makes one of the biggest differences between Abyss and Eclipse. What would it really be like to have access to all those recordings and actually see both his and Parrot's thoughts and reactions in full? What would it have been like to not have Abyss pov at all? Cause like, my post literally sprang from watching the new Rejoice strengthsmp video and Mane's bizzaresmp video and being like wow what was everyone else thinking when this happened. I have literally no idea if they streamed it or not but it doesn't matter bc im not going to watch the streams even if they had it, I'm just a casual viewer. So like, suspicion confirmed that if you watched Jumper's video you would have thought she was in the right. Because that's all you got. So normal, right? We just trust the yter.

But man, what would it have been like for Jumper to stream everything and talk about how messed up all the things were that Abyss wanted her to do and her in-real-time reaction to luring 4c or killing Vitalasy. How those moments motivated her and drove her closer to Minute. You start to see it a bit after they loose the presidency. Not that Jumper is particularly good at articulating her thoughts, literally never had to until jokerzam started putting her on the spot, but that doesn't really matter. Chat would have asked, or she would have said it to Minute and explained more. Honestly chat asking questions would have been so much of it lol. Nothing like a lore loving chat to draw out your character motivations.

But as it stands we just have the post-arc reasons, which sound weak and thrown together (incidentally the same criticism thrown at abyss by Ash) But that's because we weren't there. And articulating anything after the fact isnt the same. It's so interesting. I need to stop rambling in return lol but like it shows how s5's overarching theme was about that difference in making a youtube video and being a streamer and it came out in the abyss arc and then really came out in the finale when pb&j didn't want to stream their plans and wanted to get good recordings (antitrapbox my beloved) vs mapicc/zam wanting daily content to get on and do things and fight.

I think that there’s a fundamental misunderstanding of what exactly is…happening with Izuku’s character. Specifically in regards to chapter 425.

I’m glad that a lot more people generally recognize that Izuku is not a character that can be read at a surface level, given that he’s both a repressed person with built up emotion of basically everything and also a very glaringly HUGELY unreliable narrator, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I agree with the ways I’ve seen this most recent chapter spoken about.

I see posts, comments, etc with ideas like “Izuku don’t suppress your emotions! Open up with people! It’ll be okay I promise!” When that’s fundamentally not what is happening here.

There’s always always ALWAYS been a distinct difference in character throughout horikoshi’s writing when he is showing that a character is:

A—Avoiding emotions, thoughts, ideas less than ideal for them. Not opening up when they probably should about their problems given that they’ve been handed the space to do so. Just genuinely not acknowledging, feeling, or expressing emotions that they don’t want.

B—Reflecting on the ways they feel about the world, themselves, or other people given their new perspective on a situation. Not outright reaching out to others to talk about these problems/feelings, but instead waiting until the moment they feel they have the most confidence to do so with their new outlook on their own life.

And genuinely, guys, to grab your BkDk attention rn, this is the exact reason why Ochako’s reflection on her feelings for Izuku and thereafter decision to pull away from them WAS NEVER GOING TO END IN OCHAKO EXPLODING WITH HER LOVE FOR HIM.

This was another common interpretation I saw of Ochako and Izuocha for a long time. That because she pushed these feelings away, they were somehow going to explode in this unbelievable way and she would “get the boy” because of it. That her arc would surround accepting her romantic feelings and that she can’t just push away how she feels for a career.

But yk. That didn’t happen. At all. Nowhere close even.

The same kind of goes for Katsuki, allmight, etc. They all had moments in their arc where it was spent genuinely reflecting, and the only reason we as the audience never connected it in the same ways we do ochako or Izuku was ALWAYS BECAUSE the narrative showed their inner thoughts while doing so (mostly because Allmight’s arc after losing OFA and Katsuki’s arc on what it means to be a hero were so intrinsically tied, both starting at the same time and ending at the same time during the final war. And because they were so tied this caused their own reflections, development, and thought process to be broadcasted to us frequently throughout their arcs… to each other. They also somewhat shared aspects with Izuku, but these were cherry picked more often than not, like dvk2 for example).

To us Katsuki never seemed to be.. idk, suppressing his anger in any way because we were always told what he was doing and why (side note: this is why I’ve always thought arguments against Katsuki were so weird, bc unlike characters like endeavor or Ochako he wasn’t like… hiding who he was and how he was changing. Ever. Like the audience knows at all times past basically season 3 what Katsuki is thinking and doing. Like how do you watch this happen, stare me dead in the eye, and tell me how much of a terrible and awful teenage boy he is. Like damn I didn’t think we were this dumb. This is also my theory as to why he’s most popular, his arc is very… in your face if that makes sense). Katsuki’s entire mini arc on reflecting his mistakes and his childhood and his future is spent TELLING YOU that it’s what he’s doing. (I’m referring mostly to the endeavor internship arc, the provisional license exam makeup, and basically everything in the war arc related to him leading up to bakugou Katsuki rising here)

And see, Horikoshi will stare you dead in the eye, tell you “this girl has taken into consideration that she doesn’t want to waste her time training her career focusing on a boy because he kinda caught her fancy”, and y’all will still say that this will explode in her face.

Y’all this is a series about learning how to manage emotions, maturity in relationship to one’s emotions, how to feel an emotion, but in a way that is helpful. Horikoshi isn’t telling you “go buck wild, feel everything all the time and always express it”, in fact he explores why you DONT do that! Through Toga or Shigaraki, they show how grief and anger can genuinely consume you. But he also shows why you shouldn’t just put everything in a box to never look at or acknowledge, or why you shouldn’t just let your grief destroy the world around you, or pretending that some emotions simply don’t exist.

I can’t say this enough, so let me say it now, mha is about the extremes of your psyche. That you should control something, but not too much. Everything can be harmful. Everything can be good.

Izuku is not controlling too much, he’s expressing just enough.

I LOVE shaming this dickhead at all times in all my posts. I love saying he’s an ignorant dipshit with a weird amount of distaste for a girl who just confessed to him. I’ve joked that chapter 348 is basically an entire chapter spent on Izuku calling Himiko a mean dyke. And yet I also believe he’s doing nothing WRONG here.

ISNT EVEN IZUKU DOING THE SOCIALLY APPROPRIATE THING ABOUT IT! But he’s still TRYING to reach out to someone he thinks MIGHT be able to understand. (And frankly, this moment is far deeper than what it’s being made out to be, to me it reads more like an unrequited friendship that Izuku both desires and has thought of them to have, while simultaneously showing the distance Ochako has successfully wedged between them for her own sake. Maybe it was always there though, maybe in weird, miscommunicated Horikoshi fashion, this is a representation of how Ochako always read all those “fun friend hangouts” as a little more than that, and without those feelings the friendship never really held any substance to her in the first place. Where Izuku saw his first real friend at UA, she saw little more than acquaintance)

Simultaneously, Izuku is genuinely reflecting on what it means for the world to change, to be a hero, to live after loss—and trying and failing to gain the connection he desires from individuals who can not and will not afford him that.

Izuku is ready for the world to change, a few select characters are also ready for the world to change (mirio, for example), but not nearly enough are. So maybe I’ll have to take this back if I’m proven wrong and I accidentally looked into this far past what everyone else did for no reason, but I genuinely believe with moments like this

That Izuku has come forward with that aspect of his character development. He’s reflecting on his new beliefs, not repressing his emotions for them.

I think the most baffling thing about the Tulpar as a vessel to me is the fact that the ship really did only have a one way communication system.

I know it was cheap but even the most basic of vessels regarding major transport would have some way, shape or form for outside communication. Not only that but there was absolutely no form of innate emergency signal to show they may have been offline or in trouble despite clearly having a system to dock credits if they went off course. It's another factor that really shows that bad situations are made to get worse by design. One person who is required to relay all information to the crew and make all the choices without feedback. No way to update or call for help in case of a dire situation. No way to inform of inner personal conflicts and acquire procedures accordingly.

It really is like they are all in some sort of fucked up solitary confinement. They have their own world with strict roles that are meaningless in the end, as long as the cargo makes it, it doesn't matter what happens on that ship to the company. They don't want to hear anything and will come to conclusions on what happened based on how much pay they can withhold from the workers. Even what they do send is short, sterile and corporate to the extent it was likely written and sent out with a command by some random unmanned computer in an office.

There's something to be said about how unfair it is to force absolute power and control onto one person when you as an entity could do so much more to offload it but I've said it many times before so I won't again.

My guy yearned so bad he recognized his deepest flaws and put in the work to change them and become a better person not so that she'd give him what he wanted, but because he realized she was right and that he was in the wrong and needed to make those changes literally just in order to actually have a happy and fulfilling life.

My guy literally created "I love my wife so bad I'm gonna explode and she could kill me on the spot and I'd thank her for the opportunity to be involved"-ism and you people ought to show more gratitude for him singlehandedly altering fandom culture.
